Q&A Series: About Becc & Sweeney Consulting Aotearoa

Q1: What does it mean to “evolve as an authentic leader”?
Evolving as an authentic leader means developing self-awareness, confidence, empathy and integrity as the foundation of leadership. Through my leadership coaching in New Zealand and globally, I help you explore your own potential, overcome challenges, and strengthen the skills needed to inspire and support others.

Q2: How does 1:1 leadership coaching and mentoring work?
My 1:1 executive coaching and mentoring sessions are personalised and practical. Together, we identify your strengths, navigate barriers, and build your capacity for strategic decision-making. With guidance, encouragement and accountability, you can thrive as a leader and achieve long-term impact.

Q3: Why is mentoring important for leadership teams?
Mentoring builds collective leadership capability. I work with organisations to establish mentoring systems and coaching practices that become part of everyday professional interactions. This approach is especially valuable for teams using the Spiral of Inquiry model, where collaboration and shared reflection drive meaningful change.

Q4: What makes your coaching approach different?
Unlike generic leadership programmes, my coaching is strengths-based, relational and evidence-informed. I help leaders step into their strengths, embrace challenge, and shape a clear vision for the future. Think of me as your coach and cheerleader, helping you lead with authenticity while achieving measurable results. I am also ACC accredited with the International Coach Federation (ICF).

Q5: How do you support organisations to become more connected?
Through facilitated team development and tailored leadership learning, I help organisations strengthen trust, collaboration and values-led culture. Together, we address important conversations about equity, bias and assumptions, while laying strong foundations for effective teamwork.

Q6: What is your facilitation style like?
My facilitation style is collaborative, flexible, safe, and energising. I create spaces where teams feel comfortable to share openly, explore big ideas, and develop practical strategies. This blend of vulnerability and strategic thinking leads to powerful organisational change. I plan with you and I can pivot from the plan in the moment if needed.

Q7: What is the Spiral of Inquiry and why does it matter in education?
The Spiral of Inquiry is a research-informed framework for teacher inquiry and school improvement. It supports educators to scan student needs, identify priorities, test new approaches, and measure impact. In Aotearoa New Zealand, it’s a proven way to ensure equity and excellence for every learner.

Q8: How do you support schools with the Spiral of Inquiry?
As Aotearoa New Zealand’s Network of Inquiry and Indigenous Education (NOIIE) lead, I help schools embed the Spiral of Inquiry into daily practice. I provide professional learning workshops, long-term coaching, and leadership mentoring to ensure teacher inquiry becomes a sustainable culture, not a one-off initiative.

Q9: What can educators expect from your Spiral of Inquiry workshops?
Educators can expect engaging, evidence-based workshops that are far from boring seminars. My teacher inquiry workshops combine research, practical strategies, and collaborative conversation. Teachers and leaders leave inspired, with tools they can apply immediately to improve learning outcomes.

Q10: Why should leaders and schools work with you?
I bring a unique combination of leadership expertise, educational research, and relational coaching. Whether you’re and organisation or a school, whether you’re looking for leadership coaching, team facilitation, or Spiral of Inquiry support for schools, I provide the energy, clarity and guidance to help you achieve equity, collaboration and lasting impact.
